Minutes of September 5th, 2007
Cut Bank Area
Chamber of Commerce
Directors missing/excused: Kim Butterworth and Bob Clary Guests Attending: Jana Perry, Tom Hayes, Shannon Harrison, TJ Hansell, Ron Bealer and Tom Shock The meeting was called to order by President Kavanagh at 12:00 noon. There were no minutes to the previous meeting as Kim Butterworth was unable to attend today’s meeting. The financial report/treasurer’s report was available for us to review. Mike Bruch moved to accept the report and Tom Shock seconded the motion. Being no discussion, the treasurer’s report was approved unanimously. Old Business: Stephanie Browning gave one last recap of the 2007 Lewis and Clark Festival. She reported that Lewis & Clark went in the hole $1,100.00 this year and that the Committee is currently seeking volunteers for the Chairman and Treasurer positions. New Business: TJ Hansell is the new Boys and Girls Club Director. TJ explained that because he is new to the job he might not be able to answer all of our questions/concerns with the new project underway at the club. He did report that the purpose of the chain link fence that will be facing Central Ave. is basically for law enforcement purposes. When they drive by they can see if there are problems with vandals, etc. in that area. Jeff Billman commented that Billman’s would sell vinyl fencing to the club at cost if TJ and the Boys and Girls Club Board would be agreeable to that type of fencing in the front versus the chain link. TJ explained they were having a board meeting on Friday the 7th and he would bring it up to them and get back to us. TJ has a lot of great ideas to raise money for the Club and is anxious to learn more about his new undertaking. Jeff Billman let us know that he will have a date and time figured out for us to help with the Festival of Lights by the next meeting as there is a lot of work to be done again this year with this project. Both Gloria Taylor and Scott Laird agreed to be considered for another term as Directors on the Chamber Board. There was some discussion of who to get to replace the Jacoby’s at the Visitor Center now that they are retired. Someone from the chamber needs to over see the replacement process. Stephanie Browning made a motion and Dave Jacobsen second that the Executive Committee of the Chamber will help with this process. Ron Bealer from Glacier Signs and Monuments voiced his concern/question of what is the status of the City of Cut Bank’s CTEP funding/projects? Tom Shock explained that he has talked to the Mayor a couple of times concerning this matter and would be happy to talk to her again but has got nothing from her in a response. Jessica Reynolds is the new Administrative Assistant at the Gain Office and Patrick Fisher is the new grant writer. October’s Lunch & Learn will be at the Cut Bank Airport. Dave Jacobsen moved to adjourn the meeting and it was seconded by Scott Laird. Being no further discussion it was approved unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 12:32 p.m. Respectfully submitted by, Stephanie
